I grew up on Vancouver which was the best and now live in Whistler, British Columbia. Fishing has always been a big part of my life having grown up in a family of fishing guides and outdoorsmen. I started my first business in college and never looked back. I love the freedom to be able to do the things I love when conditions are best and then fit my work into the cracks. Travel, surfing, fly fishing, snow boarding, being creative and outdoor living is where I'm happiest.
How long have you been fly fishing?
I grew up with a fishing rod in hand. Since I was a small boy we have had a annual Family Fishing derby where all the cousins, uncles and aunts get together. Each year it’s held in a different location in BC and it’s a blast. For me winning the Fyfe derby was as good as winning the Stanley Cup.
What’s your favourite type of fly fishing?
Dry fly fishing is by far my favorite. I have a little Adam’s dry fly variation that I tie up that’s unstoppable on the local lakes and rivers in the summer. I also love fishing in the costal rivers catching big tout on eggs and salmon and steelhead using sinking lines.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
My summers are spent hiking to the many rivers and alpine lakes that are abundant here in BC with my beautiful wife and our dog Costa. In the winter you will either find me in Whistler, Costa Rica, or some other tropical beach surfing, fishing and having a laugh.
Your favourite outdoor adventure story of all time?
Any time my brother Jason and I get out into the wild with my fly rods and back road maps in hand it usually ends up in a good story.
Favourite fishing memory?
As a boy steelhead fishing with my uncles who were fishing guides and having 20+ days. Unfortunately those glory days are long gone, but I still love chasing them.
Why do you love living where you live?
Whistler is great because it is so close amazing fly fishing, snow boarding, mtn biking, etc. And if I feel like going out for a fancy dinner or to get groceries I’m a 2 minute walk away from everything.
Breakfast with crispy Bacon and a coffee is always a winner.
The original Blade Runner.
Must have accessory when in the wild?
Favourite camping food?
Any meat I can cook on a stick with a can of beans and a ice cold Gibbons Après Lager.
Where I call home?
Life is short to make the most of it.
Principles I live by?
Work less, adventure more. Pack it in, pack it out. Respect the environment. Be nice to people & the fish. Love.
What’s on your bucket list?
A road trip to Alaska and the East Kootenays. A surfing and fly fishing trip back to Costa Rica this winter. A Hellicopter fly fishing with my brothers. A road trip to the many famous fishing rivers in the US. I need a big bucket.
